Twins is a new composition created through the fusion of two previous paintings. The two female figures, which originally existed separately, meet here and become one new visual whole.
Inspired by the Italian Futurists Gino Severini’s Mare (1913) and Giacomo Balla’s Landscape Forces, Watermelon (1917–1918), the work continues the Cubist-Futurist interest in movement, color, rhythm, and fragmented form.
Here, body, fashion, and geometric color planes merge in an encounter between abstraction and figuration. Twins is therefore not just about two women, but about the fusion itself—two expressions becoming something third.
The work is part of Modernistas, a series where the art-historical legacy of modernism meets contemporary fashion and the notions of ethnicity, integrity, and female energies.
