The Doyennes is a tribute to women who have shaped our cultural and intellectual consciousness. They have emerged as indisputable authorities in their fields – voices that have pushed boundaries and expanded our understanding of what it means to be a woman. Their works transcend time, and continue to resonate within us as echoes of courage, intelligence, and creativity.

The series stems from a desire to unite two female archetypes: the historically subjugated – linked to service and representation – and the modern, self-reflective woman, with wit, humor, and independence. In the encounter between these, a space of tension and recognition arises – between being property and owning one's integrity.

Each portrait figure carries a duality: heritage and freedom, vulnerability and power. Together, they form a symbolic community – a chorus of voices that continues to influence, inspire, and create.

Virginia Woolf, Anaïs Nin, Gertrude Stein, Simone de Beauvoir, Maya Angelou, Yoko Ono, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Coco Chanel, Miuccia Prada, Meryl Streep and Oprah Winfrey – women who, each in their own way, have redefined authority and belonging.
