Aesthetically, the works move between classic Vogue portraits, cinematic iconography, and artists such as Warhol and Alex Katz. The faces bear traces of their history, but now tell a different story.

RECYCLED ICONS – Portraits of Representation's Afterlife

What happens to iconic faces when they are freed from their original function? In this series, the motifs are taken from a visual culture where identity has been linked to commercial value – shaped by fashion houses, magazines, and the media's gaze.

Through painting, the portraits are detached from past narratives and recycled into their own visual language. Representation becomes reflection. The commercial is transformed into artistic autonomy.

Aesthetically, the works move within a landscape inspired by classic Vogue portraits, film iconography, and artists like Andy Warhol and Alex Katz. Recycling is more than a method – it is a poetic act and a silent resistance against the images' original function.

The faces still bear traces of their history, but now tell a different story.
