More about this artwork
Abstract expressionism is a collective term for various action-based painting methods. One of the most famous is “action painting” – a drip and splash technique that was seen as the artist’s personal expression. Jackson Pollock became world-famous for precisely this: A limited palette was energetically distributed across the canvas by pouring, spraying or dripping paint with sticks, brushes or straight from the can. “Reading” the paint became an experience in itself.
In this work, the idea is turned on its head: Two non-binary figures wearing retro “She-Suits” emerge as figurative elements – fused with the abstract expression. The result is a visual encounter between identity and painterly liberation.
