Los Angeles is often referred to as the world's most photographed city. Here, I experienced how scenery and reality effortlessly merge – what "only happens in movies" can just as easily unfold on a perfectly ordinary day. The city embodies its own form of magical realism.

Dream Station is a magic hour motif, captured as sunset transitions into darkness. Neon signs light up, and lights flicker in windows across offices, warehouses, and mansions.

The starting point is a gas station – an icon in Californian culture. At 3rd and Fairfax, there's a replica of the classic Gilmore Oil landmark, a place I passed daily. Once again, architecture acts as a cinematic character.

In the midst of this scenario stands a young woman, the vulnerable center of the work. She appears both beautiful and unformed, but her body language could also indicate exhaustion, blisters, and few dollars in her pocket.

The contrast between the sublime light and the everydayness of the situation gives the architecture an almost sacred dimension – the gas station emerges as a cathedral in the modern urban landscape.

We are left in a dreamy presence of both beauty and imperfection, in an atmosphere that reminds us that Mulholland Drive is never far away.
