Severini Ballerina is a free adaptation of Gino Severini’s design in his painting Mare=Ballerina (1913). Gino Severini (1883–1966) sought to merge the sea and a dancer, presenting them as inseparable elements of a metaphorical reality. My interpretation pushes this concept further, bringing the dancer to the forefront and seamlessly integrating her with the surrounding color planes. The swaying figure, adorned in an Art Deco-inspired fashion, embodies a contemporary refinement that melds with Severini’s original design. Together, they form a new narrative where figure and form is bridging abstraction and figuration.
