Why Miuccia?

Miuccia Prada came to the world of fashion from an academic background. She has a Ph.D. in political science, and was a member of the Italian communist party and involved in the women’s rights movement in the 70s. This progressive, feminist perspective is embedded in her deconstructionist vision of what she wants Prada to convey; intelligence, gender-power, distinction and attraction. She loves the futuristic and the unexpected. Miuccia Prada is an art collector and owns a contemporary art gallery.

According to herself, Miuccia is a creator - but even more a businesswoman. “Art is for expressing ideas and visions, mine is to sell.” Perhaps this helps explain why Muccia Prada keeps such a low public profile for a woman whose last name is world-famous.
