About the artwork;
Andy Warhol’s iconic “Bananas”, best known from the Velvet Underground cover, is this painting’s starting point. Two party-dressed ladies are ready to rock! The facial features are inspired by Tamara de Lempicka’s sensual and cubist portrayals. Background and foreground merge into a yellow and blue cacophony of urban art deco and graffiti. It’s the highlight of the 80’s – desperately seeking Susan! The title of the painting Gul & Blå (Yellow & Blue) is borrowed from the Swedish clothing brand which was at its height in the 70s and 80s.New wave and Madonna- breakouts are female liberation.
