Why Anais?

Anais Nin remains one of the most refined writers of female-centric erotica. She turned her considerable sexual experiences into stories of women and their sexuality. This was rather rare at the time, and still remains to be fully explored today. Her lifelong interest in psychoanalysis fed her habit of keeping a diary, and her understanding and lack of judgment in all things sexual is fascinating even today. Anais explored these adventures and states of mind with an intimate delicacy that is hers and hers alone.

She chose to live her life as a liberated woman, and struggled to be understood and appreciated for a very long time, going so far as to buy her own press so she could publish herself. To Anais Nin, independence and autunomy was crucial for both her existence and her writing. She needed her own space to be in touch with the intimacy that fed her work, free from narrow minds and societal norms. In her diaries, she offers us a story that is autobiographical, reflective, and utterly subjective. But her vision and her female voice is our voice as well. Her writings become like a mirror, reflecting our female selves.
